How this calculator works
How to use this calculator
Enter each grade category as a percentage and its weight as a percentage. The calculator combines the categories into one weighted grade.
Formula used
Weighted Grade = Sum of (Grade × Weight) ÷ Total Weight.
Example calculation
If homework is 90% weighted 40% and exams are 80% weighted 60%, the weighted grade is (90 × 40 + 80 × 60) ÷ 100 = 84%.
What the result means
The result is your overall grade based on the category weights entered. If weights do not total 100%, the calculator normalizes the result based on the total weight entered.
Frequently asked questions
Do weights need to equal 100%?
Ideally yes, but the calculator can still calculate based on the total weight entered.
Can I leave rows blank?
Yes. Blank rows are ignored.
Does this handle extra credit?
You can enter grades above 100% if your class allows extra credit.
