Fence Calculator
Estimate fence panels and posts needed from total fence length and panel width.
How this calculator works
How to use this calculator
Enter total fence length and panel width or post spacing. Optionally enter the number of gates. The calculator estimates fence panels and posts.
Formula used
Panels Needed = Total Fence Length ÷ Panel Width, rounded up. Posts Needed = Panels + 1 + Gates.
Example calculation
A 120 ft fence using 8 ft panels needs 15 panels. Without gates, it needs about 16 posts. With 1 gate, the estimate is 17 posts.
What the result means
The result gives a basic material estimate for straight fence sections. Real projects may need extra posts for corners, gates, slopes, or layout changes.
